Senior Associate

Stephanie Stroup is a senior associate in the Global Litigation group in Howrey’s Los Angeles office. Ms. Stroup’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including business torts, unfair competition, contract disputes, intellectual property and other commercial issues. Ms. Stroup also represents clients in environmental matters, including toxic torts and claims brought under key environmental laws (Clean Air Act, CERCLA, HSAA). Ms. Stroup's cases have related to a broad spectrum of industries including Fortune 500 companies in the heavy machinery industry, oil and gas, poultry processing, waste hauling, internet and cosmetics. Ms. Stroup has experience in all aspects of California and federal civil procedure, including drafting pleadings, discovery and depositions, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and appellate briefing.

Representative Highlights

  • Caterpillar Inc. v. Navistar International Transportation Corp., International Truck and Engine Corporation, Newstream Eternprises, LLC, Sturman Industries, Inc., and Sturman Engine Systems, LLC. Represented Caterpillar in action where team obtained favorable settlements in multiple lawsuits against International Truck & Engine, Siemens, and Sturman, involving claims of breach of contract, breach of license agreements, tortious interference, trade secret misappropriation, and fraud. Drafted successful motion for summary judgment and motions in limine.
  • Caterpillar v. Sturman Industries, et al.  Counsel in five-week jury trial involving successful prosecution of breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation claims involving proper ownership and inventorship of fuel injector patents. Drafted successful motion for summary judgment eliminating defendants’ counterclaims for breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation and fraud.
  • Foster Poultry Farms v. City of Livingston. Part of the team representing western United States’ largest poultry processing manufacturer in federal and state litigation. Obtained preliminary injunction against the City of Livingston when it threatened to shut down the company’s primary facility for alleged regulatory violations. Ultimately obtained favorable settlement for the client.
