Associate

Mansi Shah is an associate in Howrey’s intellectual property practice specializing in all areas of intellectual property law. Ms. Shah is active in patent litigation, antitrust investigations, client counseling, and prosecuting patent and trademark applications. Ms. Shah has experience managing discovery, drafting motions and office actions, conducting high level witness interviews, and working with and managing expert witnesses. In 2008, Ms. Shah was recognized by the State Bar of California, receiving on behalf of Howrey, the President's Pro Bono Service Award for Distinguished Pro Bono Service.

Ms. Shah specializes in a wide range of technologies, including software, wireless communications, databases, audio processing, semiconductor devices, printer technology, microprocessors, memory devices, and networking technology. Ms. Shah has experience in antitrust investigations involving computer software, multimedia processing, and wireless communications.

Before joining Howrey, Ms. Shah was a software engineer at BAE Systems.  While in law school, Ms. Shah interned at the United States Patent and Trademark Office Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and served as the Executive Notes Editor of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal. Ms. Shah also interned at Microsoft Corporation. Ms. Shah obtained her J.D. degree from The George Washington University Law School and her B.S. degree in computer science from University of California, San Diego.

Representative Highlights

  • Polaris IP, LLC v. Yahoo! Inc., et al. (2009-10) Representing defendant in patent infringement action relating to computer processing of electronic messages. Case is pending in the E.D. Texas.
  • Masimo Corporation v. Philips Electronics North America Corporation. (2009-10) Representing Philips against Masimo’s claims of patent infringement related to pulse oximetry technology. The case is still pending.
  • PA Advisors, LLC v. Yahoo! Inc., et al. (2009-10) Representing defendant in patent infringement action relating to creation of user profiles for use in Internet searches before the trial court, which awarded summary judgment for non-infringement (E.D. Texas).
