Michael Resch is a Partner in the Global Litigation practice group of Howrey. His practice focuses on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation, especially matters involving accounting and financial issues. He has experience in a wide range of litigation matters, including jury trials, appellate arguments, negotiations with governmental agencies, internal investigations, taking and defending expert depositions, and drafting and opposing appellate briefs, writ petitions and summary judgment motions.
Mr. Resch has been part of numerous trial teams involving various criminal and civil claims such as mail fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation and contract disputes. Mr. Resch has handled all aspects of jury trials, including closing arguments, direct and cross-examinations, jury instructions and pre-trial and post-trial motion practice. He has also worked extensively on briefing on matters before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, Mr. Resch was recognized by Law & Politics magazine and Los Angeles magazine as a Southern California Super Lawyer "Rising Star."

Representative Highlights
- Criminal Matters. Mr. Resch acted as trial counsel in a high-profile, multi-week jury trial in a criminal case in the Central District of California, handling all aspects of the trial including voir dire, witness examinations and motion practice. Mr. Resch also acted as trial counsel on behalf of the United States in a multi-week jury trial in a felony case in the Western District of Virginia.
- LG. Philips LCD, Ltd. v. Bovio and Frame. In a case involving patent rights in the LCD panel industry filed in the District of Massachusetts, Mr. Resch successfully drafted and argued motions to dismiss based on lack of subject matter jurisdiction under the Declaratory Judgment Act and lack of personal jurisdiction. Mr. Resch then successfully drafted and argued the appeal to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Investigations by the FBI, SEC and US Attorney's Office. Mr. Resch has successfully negotiated favorable agreements for his clients, including immunity agreements and non-prosecution agreements, in numerous investigations by United States Attorney’s Offices, the FBI and the SEC.
