Andrew Reidy is a Partner in Howrey’s Insurance Recovery practice.  For more than 20 years, he has represented policyholders in disputes against insurance companies under a wide variety of insurance policies, including commercial liability policies, directors and officers insurance policies, property policies, errors and omissions policies, crime policies and financial institution bonds.  His experience ranges from counseling about how to maximize an insurance recovery to representing policyholders in mediation, arbitration, litigation and trial.  Mr. Reidy’s practice is nationwide, in both state and federal courts.  He has argued complex insurance issues before the highest courts of three states and obtained hundreds of millions of dollars for clients.

Mr. Reidy has authored or co-authored hundreds of articles on insurance topics and frequently lectures about insurance topics.  Mr. Reidy has been a frequent speaker at programs sponsored by, among others, Forbes, The Risk and Insurance Management Society, the American Bar Association and Mealey’s.  He also has lectured on Court TV regarding directors and officers insurance.

Representative Highlights

  • Goodrich Corporation. Represented Goodrich against more than 30 insurance companies in environmental-related insurance coverage dispute involving cleanup of a formerly owned site. Tried the case against non-settling insurers, resulting in an award of $42 million for cleanup and defense costs, a future award worth tens of millions of dollars, a bad faith verdict and an attorneys' fees award of $12 million. Decision affirmed on appeal.
  • Recovery of Directors & Officers Insurance Coverage. Represented L. Dennis Kozlowski, former CEO of Tyco, in obtaining insurance coverage for securities and criminal actions under a directors and officers policy.
  • Directors and Officers Insurance Policies. Represented numerous CEOs, CFOs, directors and companies in obtaining insurance coverage under directors and officers insurance policies for securities class actions, derivative actions and criminal proceedings.
