Howrey Adds Premier Competition Team In Paris

Paris, France, September 17, 2009…Howrey LLP, one of the world’s leading competition firms, is growing its practice again, this time in Paris. The firm announced today that Claude Lazarus and Audrey Amsellem will join the firm’s Paris office as partners effective November 1, 2009 together with a team of four experienced associates. The team joins from the Paris office of Clifford Chance.

Claude Lazarus started his career at Jeantet et Associés, where he spent more than 20 years, before leaving for Herbert Smith and subsequently Clifford Chance. A specialist in all aspects of French and European competition law, his expertise extends to anti-competitive practices, restrictive practices, merger control, state aid, and deregulation law. He is especially knowledgeable in various industry sectors including energy, telecommunications, transport, automobiles, financial services and heavy industry (metallurgy, oil, paper, cement). Global Competition Review refers to Mr. Lazarus as a “litigation heavyweight” and Chambers ranks him in Band 1 in France, “…Because of his long experience and deep knowledge” noting that he is considered “one of the very best.”
Audrey Amsellem’s practice focuses on all aspects of competition law in litigation, arbitration procedures or merger control matters in front of the French national or European agencies. Her expertise lies mainly in the energy sector and she has also advised clients in the telecommunications, media, consumer goods, transport, financial services and heavy industries sectors.
