Joseph Lavelle is a Partner in the Intellectual Property practice group and the Antitrust group. His practice is primarily in patent litigation and patent/antitrust counseling and litigation. He also has substantial experience in various aspects of the firm's intellectual property practice, including counseling, appellate advocacy and antitrust/IP matters.

He is very active in matters in which intellectual property and antitrust law intersect. He has handled several Section 337 investigations before the US International Trade Commission, the US Court of Federal Claims and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Lavelle was recognized as a top IP lawyer by Chambers in 2007 and 2008. Legal 500 noted in 2007 that clients consider him “excellent... very organized, very hard working and very diligent.”

He has served as an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught courses on patent/antitrust and patent misuse law.

Mr. Lavelle is a regular speaker on intellectual property and antitrust/IP interface issues.
