Philippe Edouard Lamy joined the European arbitration team in October 2008, following more than 35 years in-house, most recently with FIVES Group where he was Senior Vice-President, General Counsel and Legal Advisor to the Executive Board. Previous to this Philippe Edouard held in-house roles:
- Genral Counsel at Alcatel Cable,
- Deputy GC at Air Liquide (industrial gases) in charge of reviewing, drafting and negotiating gas and equipment supply and purchase agreements including for the space industry,
- Counsel at Framatome (now Areva) in charge, among others, of the KOEBERG Contract (South Africa) for the engineering, procurement and construction of a PWR nuclear power station (two 900 MW units) and the sale of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel for the CEGB of the UK,
- Legal Counsel at Bechtel's Legal Department in San Francisco (international engineering and contruction contracts, contracts with the US Government (DOE), companies and utilities in the nuclear, oil, mining and steel businesses in the US as well as overseas.

Philippe Edouard is based in Howrey’s Paris office and brings with him extensive experience in a number of industries including nuclear energy, engineering and construction, industrial products and power & telecoms, particularly in relation to negotiating complex agreements and dealing with national and multinational litigation and arbitration proceedings.

Philippe Edouard is a certified mediator with the Centre for Mediation and Arbitration in Paris.

Representative Highlights

  • Handled matters in the nuclear power sector including following up on all contractual aspects of major projects such as the design, procurement and construction of a 2 Reactor PWR Nuclear Power Station,. (2 x 900 MW) located in KOEBERG, Republic of South Africa
  • FRAMATOME (now AREVA). Drafting and negotiating an agreement for the manufacture and sale of a Nuclear Reactor Pressure Vessel for the Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station in the UK as well as drafting and negotiating the maintenance contracts for the Nuclear Island.
