Jeffrey Judd’s practice emphasizes the defense of technology-intensive class claims, mass torts, and other complex litigation in state and federal courts and regulatory agencies, including the United States SEC, NHTSA, FAA, USEPA, and a host of state and local agencies.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Judd has litigated cases covering a broad spectrum of claims, including unfair competition, consumer fraud, product defect, false claim act, environmental, and intellectual and real property disputes. Mr. Judd has represented corporate clients in a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceutical and medical devices, biotechnology, financial services, airlines, technology, real estate development, and manufacturing. He frequently represents corporations faced with concurrent civil suits, regulatory enforcement actions, and criminal investigations arising from the same events. Mr. Judd has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including trial and other evidentiary hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and appeals.

Representative Highlights

  • Merck Vioxx Cases. Represented Merck as lead counsel in multiple class action and coordination proceedings in which claims for economic harm arising from alleged misrepresentations in the marketing of Vioxx were alleged under state consumer fraud statutes (e.g., New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, California Unfair Competition Law) by third-party payors and end-user consumers.
  • Howard, et al. v. Ford Motor Company. Trial counsel for Ford in class action lawsuit for alleged violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law and Consumers’ Legal Remedy Act arising from purported misrepresentations about the safety and reliability of “thick film ignition” systems, which replaced mechanical distributors in over 20 million Ford vehicles built in the 1980s.
  • Ford Tire Cases. Trial counsel for Ford Motor Company in bellwether trials in consolidation proceeding of thousands of personal injury and wrongful death actions alleging strict product liability, negligence and violation of various state consumer fraud statutes for damages allegedly arising from rollovers in Ford Explorers equipped with Firestone Wilderness AT tires; also represented Ford in connection with related coordinated state Attorneys General investigation.
