John Horan is Of Counsel in the East Palo Alto office of Howrey LLP and is a member of the firm’s Global Litigation practice group. He has represented corporations, boards of directors and board committees, sovereign entities and individuals in a broad range of US and cross-border litigation and investigations. Mr. Horan focuses in particular on matters involving corporate governance, internal investigations and the management, discovery and analysis of electronically stored information. He is a member of Howrey’s E-Discovery Steering Committee.
Mr. Horan has worked on numerous stock options, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other investigations, including proceedings before the New York Stock Exchange and the SEC. In addition, he has represented clients in hostile takeovers, proxy contests and founding shareholder disputes as well as antitrust, trade secret, trademark, copyright, patent and licensing matters. He is also a seasoned software entrepreneur and programmer and has developed Web-based legal analysis tools combining relational databases, XML, XSLT and other data-storage technologies and programming languages – an expertise he now applies to the burgeoning role of electronically stored information in investigations, litigation and compliance management.
