Of Counsel
John Horan is Of Counsel in Howrey’s Global Litigation practice group and is a member of the firm’s E-Discovery Steering Committee. His practice focuses in particular on corporate governance, internal investigations and the discovery and analysis of electronically stored information.
Mr. Horan has represented corporations, boards of directors and board committees, sovereign entities and individuals in U.S. and cross-border investigations and litigation, including matters involving issues of data privacy and the interplay between U.S. and non-U.S. law. He has worked on numerous stock options, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other investigations, including proceedings before the New York Stock Exchange and the SEC. Mr. Horan has also represented clients in hostile takeovers and other business combinations, proxy contests and founding shareholder disputes as well as antitrust and intellectual property matters.
Mr. Horan is a member of Sedona Working Group 1: Electronic Document Retention and Production and participates in the Search Project of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). In addition, he is a seasoned software entrepreneur and programmer and has developed Web-based legal analysis tools combining relational databases, XML, XSLT and other data-storage technologies and programming languages.
