Associate

Susanne M. Calabrese is an associate in Howrey's Global Litigation Group. Her practice focuses on securities litigation, complex commercial litigation, private antitrust litigation and insurance recovery. Ms. Calabrese also sustains a varied pro bono practice and has successfully represented an individual in a family law matter before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, counseled Holocaust survivors on obtaining reparations from the German government, and successfully obtained political asylum for a Salvadoran human rights activist.

Prior to joining Howrey, Ms. Calabrese was a legal clerk at the US Attorney’s Office, Civil Division in San Diego, CA. She also worked for the US Department of Justice, both in the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (“CEOS”) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”). In addition, Ms. Calabrese worked with the Senate Judiciary Committee while interning for a US Senator.

Representative Highlights

  • Wagner v. Barrick Gold Corp. Representing Barrick in a securities class action brought in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Plaintiffs alleged that Barrick artificially inflated its stock price through faulty earnings projections and over-dependence on its hedging program.
  • In re ATM Fee Antitrust Litigation. Representing First Data Corporation and Corcord EFS in a series of class action lawsuits. Plaintiffs allege that the settling of ATM interchange fees violates Section 1 of the Sherman Act
