Laura Bourgeois is a member of Howrey's Construction practice with experience in both private construction disputes and government contracts. Ms. Bourgeois advises on commercial and construction matters for various construction, engineering and infrastructure projects. She has represented parties in disputes ranging from a few thousand dollars to $38 million. Ms. Bourgeois has construction experience in negotiating settlements, mediating, arbitrating and also litigating in both federal and state courts.
Ms. Bourgeois’ government contracts experience includes advising clients regarding the False Claims Act and the Contract Disputes Act, assisting contractors to document and preserve claims against the Government, and assisting in appeals of contracting officers’ final decisions. Ms. Bourgeois also co-authored the Terminations chapter of the Construction Law Handbook and subsequently defended a contractor in a multi-million lawsuit brought by a subcontractor for wrongful termination on a government contract.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Bourgeois worked as an architect gaining experience handling a variety of projects including master planning, educational buildings, government facilities, and office and retail buildings.
